If I have to name anybody as my musical heir, I have to name Smt. SUNITHA undoubtedly, and I am proud enough to announce at this august Film Festival”
These are the words came out from a well known popular singer of yester years, Smt P. Suseela, at a function got up at Ravindra Bharathi . Singer SUNITHA is a name, a celebrity and a legend that enthralls the hearts of millions of youth with her melodious voice. She has been acclaimed as a top-singer winning kudos from stalwarts like Dr. Mangalampally Bala Murali Krishna, Smt. P. Suseela, Smt. S Janaki, Sri S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and others. Her continuous, untiring efforts made her to reach heights and she is now regarded as “the much sought-after singer” in The Film Industry. She is personified as “Three-in-one” with a blend of gifted talents, as a singer, as a dubbing artiste, and as an Anchor to various channels who conduct musical programmes. She is popular both in films and in electronic media, and she does her job perfectly in the give assignments/ circumstances….

SUNITHA hails from a family, where music is a family tradition. Her parents Sri Upadrasta Narasimha Rao and Smt. Sumathi are well known to music lovers at Vijayawada and Guntur. Her Mother, is a Master in Music and her dream is to see sunitha as singer ‘sans pariel’. Right from the childhood, Sunitha was brought up with finer taste, inculcating Music, simultaneously with the academic curriculum. Sunitha proved herself as a child prodigy by giving a solo performance at a very tender age of 6 years.
She was educated and graduated at Vijayawada &Guntur. Her first Guru is classical music is Sri Pemmaraju Surya Roa garu, a Versatile musician. Sri Surya Rao garu, never compromises with the quality and his firm conviction to the music is continuous practice, (Nirantara Sadhana) which is essential to aspiring musicians. Sunitha, equally responded to the wishes of her guru, she won several ‘prizes’ and ‘praises’ in various competitions ranking first and Gold Medals.
As a student, she received First National Award for Folk songs at Delhi, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Delhi was pleased to sanction scholarship at her very tender age of 8 years, which has helped her to learn music without break. From the Age of 6 to 16 years, she received unnumerable prizes participating in various competitions held through out in Andhra Pradesh.
Sri Kalaga Krishna Mohan, a Programme Executive in All India Radio, Vijayawada, is another Guru for her light Music, who made Sunitha to sing partriotic, devotional and Bhava geethalu in All India Radio(Akasavani). Sunitha has also participated in Musical features ‘VARSHA NANDINI’, ‘VRIKSHA VILAPAM,’ which received National Awards for AIR, Vijayawada. She sang under the direction and super vision of great Musical exponents like Sri Palagummi Viswanatham Garu, Malladi Suri babu garu, Chittaranjan Garu, Nedunuri Krishna Murthy garu, Balantrapu Rajani Kanata Rao garu. Her light music career started with a patriotic song written by Sri Indraganti Sreekant Sarma garu, a famous poet.
SUNITHA, at her very young age of 10 years, participated in “Thyagaraja Aaradhana Utsavalu” along with her guru Sri Pemmaraju Surya Rao garu. Every year, she has been participating in classical music concerts, rendering sampradaya keertanalu, Annamacharya Keertanalu and great Vaggeyakarula Kruthulu. She also rendered Ashta padulu, Jaavaleelu, Kshetrayya Padalu.
 
She entered as a playback singer in Films at her early age of 15 years! At the time of her entry into film world, there were so many up-coming singers, who exhibited their talents in electronic Media. But, sunitha’s mellifluous voice touched the famous music directors in the film field, who willingly invited her to sing under their music direction. Sri Sasi Preetham, a versatile music director has first given her a chance to sing in the film ‘Gulabi’ and her first film song is ‘Ee vela lo Neevu’ written by famous writer, Sri Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry. This is a humming song to youngsters even to day. Smt Sunitha, from the day of her debut in The Film Industry, never looked back, and proved herself as a versatile singer ascending film by film and year by year. So far, she worked with great music directors like Ilayaraja, Vidya sagar, M.M. Keeravani, S.V. Krishna Reddy, Koti, Raj, Vandematharam Srinivas, Mani Sharma, Ramana Gogula, S.A. Raj kumar, Sandeep choutha, Micky-J-Mayor, Devisri Prasad, R.P. Patnaik, Chakri, Nihal, Kalyani Malik, Anup, Sunil Kashyap, Saluri Vasu Rao, Madhavapeddi Suresh, Saketha Sairam, bunty etc… There are so many super hit songs to her credit. Smt. Sunitha also rendered songs for T.V. serials. She has rendered title songs to the most popular serials “Anta Rangalu”(Etv serial) Ruthu Ragalu, Andam, Atmeeyulu, Antahpuram, Pelli Pustakam, Dr. Chakravarthi, and others. Among TV serials, Nandi Award for best singer was given in 1998 to her song “Gunde kee Savvadenduko” for “Antarangalu” a popular serial in ETV.

She had a rare privilege of singing the lyrics written by thiru Karunanidhi, chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. These songs were composed by mastreo Ilayaraja and released as a private album at a colorful function in Chennai.
Also, she has rendered title song to a historical serial play “Tarigonda Vengammamba” under the auspices of Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel , TTD, Tirupathi. This is a rare honour to her credit. Ace Music Director, Shri M.M. Keeravani provided musical score .Another important achievement in her life is, her “Meera Padavali” a Telugu version to Meera Bhajans, translated by Padmabhushan, and Gnan Peeth Awardee, the Great poet of all times, Dr. C. Narayana reddy…. Her mellifluous voice added fragrance to the Bhajans, and Meera’s devotion to Lord Krishna is emotionally felt by every listener. Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee and a Veteran film Actor in Telugu. Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, and yet another veteran actor Sri Gummadi Venkateswara Rao garu have appreciated her with “pattu Sarees” inviting her to their houses, and blessed her dextrous singing talent. She has also released private songs CD’s composed by Music directors Shri K.M. Radha Krishnan and Sri Madhukar, which received the attention of The Music Lovers.
 
 
 Among the most notable concerts we may mention a few, which added a memorable record in her life.
  1. She was invited by Bhagawan Sri Sri Sri Satya Sai Baba and gave devotional concert twice on the occasion of Bhagawan’s birthday celebrations at prasanthi Nilayam (Putta Parthi)
  2. She was invited by T.T.D. Tirupathi to participate in Lord’s Brahmotsavalu, and gave concert at Tirumal Hills, in the presence of lakhs of devotees.
  3. She was invited by the “Vengamamba Project constituted by TTD, Tirupathi, to give a devotional light music programme at Tirupathi.
  4. She was invited by TTD, Tirupathi, to participate in one of the Special ustavams where she has anchored also, besides rendering devotional songs. Incidentally, the programme was scheduled on 31st December 2008, which eventually bid farewell to 2008 and welcomed 2009.
  5. She has participated in the 200 years of twin cities celebrations where she has given a stupendous performance.
  6. On the occassion of 50 years of A.P State’s Legislative Assembly” celebrations, she has anchored a programme stuffed with music events.
  7. She rendered “Vande Mataram” at the congress plenary(Committee Meetings) in the presence of AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Sri Rahul Gandhi, (MP) Prime Minster, Hon’ble Man Mohan Singh, and the Chief Minister of AP Dr. Y.S. Raja sekhara Reddy.
  8. She was invited by the Temple authorities of “Sri Kalahasti” and rendered classical music concert.
  9. She was also invited by the devasthanam of Simhachalam, for a classical music concert.
 
She has also given programmes abroad, at Kuwait, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, London, USA, Philippines etc where she received kudos from the Telugu speaking people for her talents both as a singer and anchor.
She has a rare blend of qualities excelling her self in any field she enters she also prove her mettle as a dubbing artiste, lending her voice to the notable, popular heroines of the Telugu Screen and so far 700 films are counted for her dubbing score. Her voice modulation is superb, and suits to the emotions and finer feeling exhibited by the heroines on the screen.
The audience cannot distinguish the voice and the action of the heroine separately while viewing the movie. She lends her voice to heroine only, but not to any other side character. She was adjudged as the best dubbing artist and received 3 NANDI Awards as the best dubbing artist 2000 Jayam, 2005 Anand, 2006 Pothe Ponee. Her expressions and modulations are very much appreciated by the Great Directors like Bapu, K. Viswanath, K. Raghavendra Rao etc… A list of heroines is given below, to whom, she lent her voice.

Sunitha, inspite of heights in her career, and leading a prestigious, glorious life, is as soft as a common woman, meek, humble, and respectful to elite people and erudite scholars. She maintains decency and dignity while at work, and is punctual. She is crowned with inveterate melodious voice, devotion and dedication to music, invincible in nature, hard working & commitment to duty. Her pleasing manners endear to all and she stands up to the expectations of her producers, directors, and music directors. She is magnificent, humanitarian and responds to any call given for a social cause and extends her helping hand. At present she is busy with 10 films on hand, either as a singer or as a dubbing artist.
